2009 Scholarship Instructions

 

The Klickitat County Young Leaders Association (KCYLA) sponsors this scholarship award.  The KCYLA is a local Non-Profit dedicated to the education and training of the next generation of leaders.

 

The purpose of this award is to provide incentive and reward for students who demonstrate leadership in their schools and communities through community service and volunteer work.

 

AWARD

           

            $1000 (check made payable jointly to the college and student)

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS


Students wishing to apply for the KCYLA Award must complete the following application form no later than Thursday June 4th 2009. This form in (doc) can also be found and submitted online at www.kcyla.com/Scholarship_Committee.html

 

 

To be eligible to receive the 2009 Klickitat County Young Leaders Association Scholarship a student must meet the following requirements:

1)      A graduation grade point average of 2.6 or higher;

2)      Completion of the attached application form

3)      Documentation to verify community service hours worked and GPA.

4)      Be graduating from a high school located within in Klickitat County in 2009

 

SELECTION PROCESS


The
Klickitat County Young Leaders Association Scholarship Committee will review all applications and notify the high school counseling center and the applicant receiving the award.  The student receiving the award will be announced at graduation.

The committee will weigh all applications based on the following formula;

  • 60% Essay response to the questions
  • 40% Number of volunteer/community service hours
  • Grade Point Average will not be taken into account
